Principal-Shawn Lovitt

Hello Stallion Family,

I am delighted to introduce myself as a native of Onslow County and an alumnus of Jacksonville High School, class of 1993. I pursued my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at East Carolina University. My teaching career began in Pitt County, where I dedicated twelve years to educating young minds, spending two years teaching third grade and ten years teaching fifth grade.

Upon returning to Jacksonville, I joined Carolina Forest, where I spent three years as a K-5 science teacher before returning to the classroom for my final year. The last five years of my classroom experience were spent at Summersill Elementary, a school I once attended myself. In May of 2021, I proudly earned my Master of School Administration from ECU.

On a personal note, I have been happily married to my wife, Dana, for 25 years. We have two wonderful children: Matthew, who is 21 and currently a student at Chowan University, and Leah, who is 14 and attends Newbridge Middle School.

I look forward to many fulfilling years in Stallion County.
